Growing up in a single parent household, Ruben was the youngest out out three children. Struggling through many hardships growing up, Ruben suffered through rejection, abandonment, and low-self esteem for years. The war within his mind seemingly because unbearable. Turning to marijuana and alcohol starting at age 16, he thought that these activities would ease his pain. At 19, Ruben contemplated suicide in his basement on the edge of his bed. Before he could pull the trigger, there was a voice that told him, "Don't do it. I have so much for you to do." Listening to the voice, Ruben decided to make persevere.
Still struggling with identity and self-value, Ruben struggled with completing college. He couldn't hold a job for more than two years because he couldn't quite find what his purpose was. It had gotten to the point to where he and his wife came home to a red notice on their apartment door to vacate in five days.
The love for writing has always been Ruben's heart. He loves to create from blank canvases to bring to life the ideas that come to him. His flowetic (flowing and poetic) style grips the readers into a place where they can escape from reality and experience the creation. Ruben started writing when he was in middle school. He used writing to go into a place where he was free to express his mind through creativity. It is his endeavor to expand his writing portfolio so readers all over the world can share an unforgettable literary experience.

Through much prayer and legwork, Ruben and his family dwell in a space of contentment and safety. After finding a career in the banking world, Ruben moved his family from his birthplace of Kenosha, Wisconsin to Dallas, Texas at the beginning of 2020. It was in Dallas where the expedited journey into diving into the deep waters of himself took place.
After earning his degree in English in secondary education, Ruben taught in the middle school ranks, learning and cultivating his techniques in teaching and educating those with different learning styles. A teacher at heart, Ruben continues to develop his communication and teaching skills to assist those who are in need.

His debut novel Northern Lights is read in the US and made Ruben an International Author. In the midst of finding International success with his novel, Ruben was able to complete college after 13 years and is currently pursing his master’s in Educational Psychology. Coupling his educational success with a growing speaking and coaching business to give hope, life, and identity to those willing to dive. Slowly but surely, he was discovered who he was by taking his journey one step at a time.
